I have just finished reading, Writing Jane Austen, by Elizabeth Aster. Writing Jane Austen was full of new friends to read about, and places to see as Georgina learns about Jane Austen through the people around her. Aster has given us a sequel that is refreshing as a story to stand alone, not a sequel or a what might have happened after the man in possession of a good fortune has found his wife.

January 28, 1813, Pride and Prejudice was published anonymously by Jane Austen.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife." This is one of the most known quotes of a story ever written. It sums up the whole story.

Pride and Prejudice, describes the conflict between the high spirited daughter of a country gentleman and a wealthy landowner.

This classic tale has not only sold some 200 million copies world wide, it has inspired movies, plays, and sequels.

The Sense and Sensibility Bicentenary Challenge 2011

Jane Austen's first published novel in 1811 was Sense and Sensibility. Laurel Ann at Austenprose has announced The Sense and Sensibility Bicentenary Challenge 2011. It began on January 1, and will go through December 31, 2011.

Why do Little Dogs, chase the Big Dogs?

Today, we had to take the dogs, (Cody & Gracie) to get their shots and dog tags. We were in luck that the rain had stopped. It always makes me wonder, why is that the little dogs bark and chase after the bigger dogs. Gracie who is a medium size dog and a sweetie wanted to run away, while my Hubby's little dog barked and wanted to chase after the larger dogs.

Is this true of people, too? Do we like the little dogs bark and carry on to say, "Hey, I am just as tall or smart as you!" and are we like the bigger dogs, wanting to run away from the people that are always barking and fussing at us?

Oh, well...It just seems that the more I deal with the dogs, I am glad that my pet is a hamster. My hubby and son can keep their dogs. Which by the way, my hamster when she is in her ball chases the little dog. What is up with that??

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Today we awoke with rain.

The rain has flooded out Tipton County and North Shelby County. We have not seen it flood like this since apx. 1987. Many people have been flooded out of their homes due to water rising into their homes or flooded in or away due to the roads being closed.

Please, keep these families in your prayers.

saturday night in a waiting room

ok, I really have no clue about this blog stuff. However, I have nothing else to do while I wait in the icu waiting room. I have meet some interesting people. Negitive Nelly, who has had only negitive thoughts about the people and state of the waiting room. I guess if you have been worried and staying on couch at night for ofer 2 weeks you are entitled to be grumpy. Than there is Mrs. Lonely, who's hubby has been in the icu since Christimas. She has no one to to talk to and just needs a friend. I look at the faces and I wonder where do I fit.

I am just the neice who came to see her uncle, and stay with her mom, who is an adult, yet feels like a child. I have no words of wisdom as I wait for my mom to vist and sit with me till it is time for the next visit. I wish that I could encourge Nelly to see the bright side, and see that soon her hubby will be in a regular room, I listen to what Mrs. Lonely had to say, but I felt like I had no words for her either,

It is times like this I feel that I am just a person passing time. Like one of thode people that are in the Twlight Zone and everything is not as it seems.

Where do I learn to help and reach out to those that need a friend a strnager in hteir time of need. Do I frist have to go through what they are going through or does it just come by watching those around us, seeing the world through their eyes, or even walking in their shoes?

I guess when Jesus told us to love our neighbors, He was talking about the neighbors we talk with, grill out with and have neighbor watch with. OR maybe, just maybe He ment this the neighbors that we pass everyday, yet never notice till we stop to set in an waiting room?

If that is the case, I do have words that I can offer, I can offer His hope and love. Pray with them. Maybe with God's help. I won't feel like that child but the adult that has the wisdom given by God to do His will.
